The worldwide Nazi search for archaeological and historical support for their beliefs in the Aryan (German) master race. The
program looks at the story of the SS-Ahnenerbe, the Nazi " Ancestral
Heritage Society," founded in 1935 whose task according to Himmler was
"to restore the German people to the everlasting godly cycle of
ancestors, the living and the descendants." Their quest was to find the
power objects from history and prove the myths of Atlantis, the Grail
and an ancient German master race. Michael Wood explores how history
was used as a political tool and how the theories of the Nazi
historical department provided the ideology the SS used to justify
genocide.
