The story of Bobo, the monkey prince, has been fashioned out of thousands of feet of film shot around a temple in South India, and is based on a detailed knowledge of monkey behaviour. Kristin Scott Thomas narrates the story of Bobo as if she were his closest confidante, describing how their relationship blossomed until Bobo’s father was abruptly deposed and the monkey prince expelled from the mountain. A million miles removed from Walt Disney gloop, it is a sweet, sad story that deserves to win every award going.
